CAMBRIDGE ESOL: COMPUTER BASED EXAMS

Cambridge ESOL exams are increasingly available to be taken as a computer-based test.
Not only has this added more exam dates each year, but candidates can register for the exam as little as three weeks before taking it - allowing the exam to be taken when candidates are ready for it.
There are a number of other benefits to computer-based testing:
  • faster access to results, with scores available to be seen online just three weeks after the test
  • many students are more comfortable completing a test with a keyboard and mouserather than paper and pen
  • test takers can edit their answers on screen during the exam
  • the use of headphones for the listening elements of tests mean that they can adjust the volume to suit their needs
  • online timer and help functions allow candidates to get the best from their exam performance.
If you are considering taking a computer-based test, remember:
  • The computer-based test is another choice in how you take our exams - it does not replace the paper and pen test. Other than the method of completing them, the exams are exactly the same, and they both lead to the same internationally recognised Cambridge ESOL certificate. Extensive research and trials have been carried out to make sure this is the case.
  • The security of computer-based exams is protected by state-of-the-art encryption and an on screen lock-down facility.
For detailed information on each exam please visit the corresponding page on this website.

In Málaga (Spain) you can take your Computer Based Exam in Centro Municipal de Formación Permanente (Arroyo de la Miel-Benalmádena) Telephone: 952 566 549 -- 952 577 219

GAZPACHO DAY - 19th MAY IN MÁLAGA (SPAIN)

The coming Saturday May 19th, the “Día del Gazpacho” (Gazpacho Day) will be celebrated in Malaga. 2012 will be the first edition of Gazpacho Day, which is a tribute to this refreshing, healthy and typically Andalusian drink, which has conquered both our hearts and our palates. During Gazpacho Day, gazpacho kits will be sold in the Central Market. These packets will include everything you need to whip up a tasty gazpacho at home. Supermarket chain Eroski in the shopping centre Larios has also signed up to the initiative, and during the day will be offering free samples of gazpacho from its own brand line. Another business that’s joined forces with Gazpacho Day in Málaga is olive oil brand Hojiblanca, which will be giving out bottles of extra virgin during the day. Last (but not least), there’ll be a score of restaurants in the city that will be offering bowls of gazpacho at a practically symbolic price.

Gazpacho Day is organised by the association “Málaga Sana” (healthy Málaga), which aims to promote healthy eating, based on a Mediterranean diet and homemade food. It also forms a part of the initiative “Food Revolution”, headed by British TV chef Jamie Oliver, whose objective is to fight obesity and the illnesses associated with being overweight.

Here’s a list of different restaurants which will be participating in Gazpacho Day in Malaga 2012.

2012 OLIMPIC FLAME LIT IN GREECE

The flame that will burn throughout the 2012 London Olympics was lit in an elaborate ceremony in Olympia, Greece, on 10th May.

The 2012 Olympic flame is officially alight.
The flame, which will burn throughout the Summer Games in London, was lit at in an elaborate ceremony in Olympia, Greece, this morning.
The Associated Press described how, amid the ruins of the 2,600-year-old Temple of Hera, a Greek actress dressed as a "high priestess" invoked the Ancient Greek sun god Apollo before using a mirror to focus the sun's rays and set the torch burning.
The method is highly symbolic, the BBC explained: the Olympic flame represents purity because it comes directly from the sun.
International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge described it as "a beacon for the Olympic values of friendship, excellence and respect ... a symbol of fellowship and peace."
A torch lit from the flame is now on the first leg of its two-week relay around Greece.
Some 490 torch bearers will carry the flame the length and breadth of Greece, before it is transferred by airplane to the United Kingdom on May 18.
It will then go on a 70-day journey around the UK, borne by 8,000 volunteers. It is due to reach the Olympic Stadium in London on July 27, ready for the opening ceremony.
